The meeting, provided a platform for representatives from various Local Government Areas (LGAs) to present their quarterly performance reports, analyze the programme outcomes, identify challenges, and discuss practical measures for improving healthcare service delivery at the grassroots level.

In attendance were the IMPACT Project Manager for Edo State, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore; the IMPACT Immunization Specialist, Dr. Efeomon Eseigbe; the State Coordinator of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Mr. Jerry Osawe Lawani; Medical Officers of Health (MOHs) from participating LGAs; representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO); Data FI, Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) teams; Staff of EDSPHCDA and other stakeholders supporting primary healthcare interventions in Edo State.

A key highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on sustainability, with the participating LGAs encouraged to develop clear strategies that would ensure Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) remain functional, effective, and capable of delivering essential services beyond the lifespan of the IMPACT Project.

Speaking during the meeting, Edo State IMPACT Project Manager, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, stressed the need for stakeholders to begin taking deliberate steps towards sustaining the achievements recorded through the project. He encouraged healthcare workers and technical partners to identify practical solutions that would support the continued operation of PHCs and maintain access to quality healthcare services for communities.

Dr. Idemudia further highlighted the importance of ownership and continuity, urging stakeholders to ensure that systems, structures, and interventions established through the IMPACT Project are strengthened and maintained beyond the project period.

Also speaking at the meeting, the IMPACT Immunization Specialist, Dr. Efeomon Eseigbe, made a presentation on the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), highlighting its role as a government financing mechanism designed to support primary healthcare services.

He encouraged PHCs to maximise opportunities provided through the BHCPF by effectively utilizing available resources to improve service delivery and strengthen facility operations. He also noted that leveraging existing healthcare financing structures would be essential in sustaining the progress achieved through the IMPACT Project.

The meeting also featured discussions on data quality, programme implementation, performance trends, challenges, and areas requiring further intervention across the LGAs. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable data in guiding decision-making, tracking progress, and improving healthcare outcomes.

The Q2 State Data Review Meeting served as an opportunity for stakeholders present to evaluate progress made so far while developing strategies to ensure continuity and sustainability of primary healthcare services across Edo State.
