The Auchi Chapter of the Rotary Club Association, on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, conducted a maternal health outreach for pregnant women in two communities in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The outreach took place separately at the Comprehensive Health Center, Iyahmo, and the Iyakpi Primary Health Center, South Ibie, during the antenatal care sessions for pregnant women.

According to reports from Mrs. Ahonsi Olaoluwa, Health Educator, Etsako West, the Rotary Club team distributed MamaCare kits, mosquito nets, and baby items to expectant mothers at both health facilities. The items were provided to support pregnant women, promote safe motherhood, and protect them from malaria during pregnancy.

At the Iyakpi Primary Health Center, the Rotary Club also presented ₦50,000 each to two mothers who delivered their babies there on the day of the visit. The financial support was aimed at encouraging pregnant women to deliver in health facilities under the care of skilled health workers and providing relief to the new mothers as they begin caring for their babies.

The outreach complemented the ongoing Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF) program’s malaria prevention activities for pregnant women.

The initiative also strengthened efforts to prevent malaria, improve maternal and newborn health, and encourage pregnant women to attend regular antenatal care and deliver safely in recognized health facilities across Etsako West LGA.

The beneficiaries and health workers of the Comprehensive Health Center, Iyahmo, and the Iyakpi Primary Health Center, South Ibie, appreciated the Auchi Chapter of the Rotary Club Association for extending the outreach to the two communities and supporting efforts to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and newborn babies.
